Rachel is my Rattlesnake Plant, also known as Calathea Lancifolia. She is my latest purchase, I bought her about a month ago on a whim. My mum gave me a tip off that B&Q were having a sale on houseplants so I passed by and found this beauty. I was proud of myself for holding back to just one!
How do you care for Rattlesnake Plants?
Light: Like most Calatheas, the Rattlesnake Plant needs bright, indirect light, but not direct sun which will make the leaves beautiful markings fade.
Water: Keep the soil moist but not overwatered.
Humidity: Calatheas like humidity so keep it misted and perhaps keep it in a room with high humidity
Fertilising: Like Callie, I plan to feed Rachel every month or so during the spring/summer.
What I love about Rattlesnake Plants (Calathea Lancifolia): The same thing I love about all calatheas – the leaves move up and down! I will seriously never get over that, I just love it. Having a calathea is like having a pet. The Rattlesnake leaves are so beautiful and eye-catching and brightens up any corner of your room.
Do you have a Rattlesnake Plant? Do you have any advice or do anything differently? I’d love to hear.
