Introducing Alice Alocasia: The Dark and Alluring Plant

Let me introduce you to Alice, my Alocasia Amazonica, also known as Alocasia Polly, and she is my newest plant! This is another plant that I was telling my mum I really really wanted. She used to have a big one when I was growing up and she gave me a cutting when I left home. It was doing really well in my first flat but when I moved to a different flat, it died and I was so sad. So I was so happy when my mum came across some being sold recently and got me one. Thanks mum!

Alocasia Amazonicas are dramatic, eye-catching and definitely stand out. Alice is a little bruised but I plan to tend her to her full potential.

How do you care for Alocasia Amazonicas?

Alocasia

Light: Moderate to bright light is best, but not direct sun.

Water: I plan to water Alice about once a week, keeping her soil moist but not too wet.

Humidity: Alocasia Polly like high humidity so I will need to mist Alice a little more than Callie and Aggie I think. Probably every 1 -2 days. I’ll experiment and feedback!

Fertilising: I will feed my Alocasia every month during the spring and summer.

What I love about Alocasia Amazonicas (Alocasia Polly): They are just so distinctive and real statement plants. I think I have a childhood nostalgia mixed up with my love of Alocasias so I will be investing a lot of time and effort to make sure this one lives and thrives!

Do you have a Alocasia Amazonicas (Alocasia Polly) or any other type of Alocasia? Do you have any advice or do anything differently? I’d love to hear.

My alocacia is in the conservatory and suddenly I have noticed the leaves have become limp and lifeless. Any ideas on how I can revive. Is there any chance of revival. Am heartbroken

Oh dear! Perhaps it’s a little too cold for it now in the conservatory? I’d suggest moving it to a warmer place like a kitchen and see how it gets on. Also make sure it’s not overwatered. Let me know how you get on!
